Want Thick, Longer Hair? Hair by Adelle

23 Feb

So I recieved this comment on my blog the other day that caught my attention… and made me laugh a little bit :)

“I’m glad that I have full thick hair and don’t need extensions.
Sometimes having lots of super thick hair is a pain in the butt,
but I just can’t ever imagine paying so much for some hair extensions.”

I can tell you exactly why she feels this way… and she even says it. Its because she already has thick, healthy hair. Over 3/4 of my clientele has really fine hair that just wont grow, or has had some severe damage to their hair due to over processing or colors on top of colors… Therefore giving them the reason to REALLY NEED hair extensions. In this case, I know I would pay ANYTHING to have great hair…especially if I am physically not able to grow it myself! Of course, all of you that have met me are thinking,”how does she know this??? She has really great hair already!” I know this because I have not always had good hair and needed extensions to help me grow my own hair out :) Extensions gave me the confidence I needed to get through the really rough stage of growing my hair out, and also making me feel amazing about myself! To a woman, hair is everything!!! If you wake up and have a really bad hair day, it will ruin your whole day… I know a lot of you are shaking your heads thinking,”that is SO true!” It really is the truth! Thats the part about my job that I just LOVE!!! I love to give that extra confidence to a woman that has never experienced a GREAT hair day! Not only that, but being able to do it day after day looking great all the time. That is something that if you already have “good” hair, you will NEVER be able to understand. I cannot wait to share with everyone all the emails I have been receiving to enter the photo shoots contest! I have cried, laughed and re-read all of them! They all have touched my heart and they will touch yours too!

And then… there is the price. After what I just said, I would pay anything to have great hair every single day! Even though some think my price is too high, or “outrageous”… I am much, much lower than our surrounding cities. I also plan on staying in the price bracket I am for as long as I possibly can! :) I had someone tell me the other day…”Your prices are much too high since I know the cost of the hair. You are way over-charging” The only thing I have to say to that is…Do you walk into Ruth’s Chris steak house and demand to know why their steaks are $60 when Bilo sells them for $10 each??? No, you GO to Ruth’s Chris for the experience you will get, the service you will receive and the pampering you feel while doing it. THAT is the reason my prices are what they are. I am not for everyone, and I am OK with that… With that being said, (big smile…) Here are 2 amazing women that I had this week.

Reason for coming to HBA: She has thinning hair in her family history and has been thinning out over the years. Some might say she has good hair already, but it wasnt the hair she once had. Extensions are perfect for her to give her the thickness she needs as well as the length she has wanted for a long time :)

Reason for coming to HBA: Katie has had a bad experience with bleaching. She use to have long hair in high school, but her hair is fine, and she wants it to be lighter than her natural color. Unfortunately with bleach and fine hair, you end up with damage. Over several years of damage, her hair just quit getting any longer before breaking off. She also had a good friend, Nikki, that is also one of my extension clients!

All for now… Have a GREAT weekend! ~adelle

Celebrity Hair Extensions

22 Feb

Who doesn’t want celebrity hair??? I know I, myself, strive to have gorgeous hair just like all the famous women out there! I have had an extremely interesting week so far! Lets see, where do I start? First, I am proud to say that my business has finally gone international and my website is getting hits from all over the WORLD!! How freaking cool is that??? I got a call from a girl, Tamra, that is going to travel to me from Canada just to get her hair done! She has never been to the United States and is planning on coming in April JUST to see me!! She is also planning on seeing some of Greenville and stay the weekend after getting her hair done!!! I was so excited, I felt like a little girl and wanted to jump on my bed and squeal! lol Yes, Yes, that is childish, but that is exactly how I felt…

Then yesterday I got a call from Christina who is getting married in Aug. She is getting her extensions done in May and flying us down to have me do her hair in St Thomas for her wedding!!!!!! Can I get a “Hell Yeah” on that one!!! So needless to say, I have been on cloud nine all week.

…Until this evening when I received a phone call from an unhappy client that was in the salon last week…. There was a series of things that happened, and I wont bore you with all the details, I am only saying this to say….this… I know that I am not the worlds best hair stylist, and I know that I am not perfect. But one thing I KNOW is I try VERY  hard to have only happy clients in my chair. This client was very upset that I had not returned a phone call last week after I put a few extensions in, on a whim for her. I received her voice mail while I was in the hospital with my husband who had just gotten out of surgery. I quickly responded with a text saying I was sorry I couldn’t answer, and I would return her call later. (she never received that text) Unfortunately, I completely forgot to return her call. It totally slipped my mind. When I was reminded today that I had not called her back I immediately called her to apologize to her. In the mean-time, she had NO idea what I had been through over the weekend… assumed that I was intentionally ignoring her, and went to another extension stylist this week. “I lost a client due to lack of customer service”

So after saying all of that…. Even though the conversation didn’t go as I had hoped it would go, I got this from our conversation… I can ALWAYS improve on my customer service and I plan to never let this happen again. (as well as never doing extensions on a whim like that) lol SO… naturally I have a heavy heart bc I am the type of person that wants everyone to be happy, ESP with their hair!!! When I get criticism, even when Its meant to hurt and tear me down, I can take it and use it to better myself AND my business! I am thankful we talked and I plan on never having another problem again! :) (being very optimistic!) Thank you anonymous client :) You have helped me more than you will ever know!

On a EVEN BETTER NOTE!!! I received my first shirts in today to get a sneak peek of them!!! I will post a photo… THEY ARE SOOOO ADORABLE!

The white shirts will be $24 and black shirts will be custom pre-ordered at $40 each. Dont ask me why they cost so much more, it makes absolutely NO sense to me!!! lol something to do with the screen printing and the process, but I happen to be a “black shirt” kind of girl, and Im the type that WOULD pay double just to have a cute shirt! lol So it is, what it is…

All for today… Have a GREAT REST OF THE WEEK!!! I know I plan on it!

OH, I almost forgot, wanted to say thank you to everyone that has sent in emails for the photo shoot contest!!! I am SOO PUMPED about doing this!!!

~adelle

(and btw, For all of you that have asked about my sweet hubby, he is doing GREAT and is healing fast! I actually came home to a home cooked meal after a long day on my feet… Yes, I am SOOO spoiled! I think he loves me)

Hair Extensions on East Coast- South Carolina

13 Feb

Hey everyone!!! Hope you all are having a wonderful week!!! Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day… YAY! I cant wait to post a photo of what I got my hubby… Its so “out of the box” and original… I am actually quite proud of it! However, I cant post it yet, he reads my blogs and I just CANT spoil it for him! :) (Pssst… Travis, I don’t mind you reading my blogs, I actually LOVE it! :D )

Just want to talk for a quick minute about scheduling! I am getting a ton of calls right now for last minute appointments, and I just want to say that I wish I could get you ALL in! I really struggle with this, because I would work myself literally to DEATH for all my amazing ladies, but I know I just cant. :/ So if you are patient with me, then I will do my best to accommodate everyone in the best time frame that you need. Lets see, today is Feb 13th, and my next available appointment is March 14th. This means for color, extensions, and cuts… However I can usually find spots to get a consultation in since they only take about 15 min somewhere in the week. Just keep in mind, If you call an extension artist and they tell you… “YES I CAN DO IT THIS WEEK”…???? That’s NOT a good sign :) I’m just stating the truth! HA! A Good stylist is always booking in advance and is in high demand. You are in good hands with me… I can promise you that!

Also, just came up with an idea to start a YOU TUBE channel just for my amazing clients on little tips and tricks for hair styles and upcoming trends. I hope to start this maybe this coming weekend (you know, in all my FREE TIME I have laying around! lol) But I am determined to get it done. I have so many of you asking me to teach you how to cushion your hair (ie tease it) Curl with a flat iron, get volume while straightening you hair… things like this. And I have heard a million times… “I wish you could come to my house every morning to do my hair!” If you know me at all, then you KNOW Im not a morning person HA! I literally cant start work until 10am… or at least I wouldn’t trust MYSELF to touch your hair before 10, nor would you hear a peep out of me! :) HA! Anyways, with this You Tube channel, you will be able to bring me to your home at YOUR convenience :) How great does that sound??

Hope you all have a fantastic Valentine’s Day tomorrow!!!

Adelle

Shannon’s fringe was a little chunky and I felt it looked better away from her face until it grows out to blend with the long extensions. But WOW what an amazing difference!!

Love this for Jennifer! Makes her hair look so much healthier being just a little bit longer and thicker!

Extension Pricing, How much do extensions Cost?

8 Feb

Hey there everyone! I am away from the salon this week and its been a much needed time to get away again. If you have ever met me, you can tell that I LOVE my job and tend to work a little too much. Therefore if I don’t take vacations, I will never get a break! So even though it seems as though I go on vacations a lot, its simply because these days are my only days off. Travis, my husband and I also own a photography company and specialize in wedding photography. When I’m away from the salon Sat, Sun, Mon… we usually have a wedding or lots of editing to do :) So I stay very busy… but its what I love to do! :)

So the main question I get when people call in to inquire about extensions is…”How much do you charge?” My pricing is based on how many years of experience I have had as well as the amount of clients I serve. I know its sometimes hard to understand why anyone could charge so much for hair…however, Its taken me my whole career to get to this price point that I am at. This is also my main focus. Yes I also do cuts and colors, but the majority of my clientele all have extensions. I can promise that you will get an amazing experience with me and will be very happy with your extensions. I do not do extensions on someone if I do not think their hair will support them and ALSO if I think they will not look good, I will tell you! Because this is my main focus, I do not “need” new clients… This also allows for me to be honest with you about your hair. I want you to  be just as good as a fit for me as I am for you! This leads to the consultation. I do require all clients be seen prior to getting extensions. We sit down and talk about why you want extensions and get more in depth about the process of getting your new hair.

I honestly think price should be the last thing on how you choose your extension artist. Extensions is so much more than…just adding some hair. Its all in the placement, the parting, the amount of hair, the care of them… and the list goes on. I am very good at what I do, and I think my pictures speak for themselves.

My prices range from $700-$1500. This price includes your color, application, cut and style.

Here are a few tips on choosing your extension stylist:

  • Just make sure that anyone you use is highly experienced in whatever technique they plan to use because if not attached properly and removed properly, you run a serious risk of having hair extensions damage your natural hair beyond repair.
  • To try to avoid this scenario, always ask lots of questions up front so you understand the stylist’s plan for attachment and removal.
  • Also ask for photos of his or her work so you can be sure you like the results achieved.
  • Finally, ask for a price quote up front, since what you can expect to spend can span in a wide range.

Merry Christmas!

23 Dec 020

Tomorrow will be Christmas Eve, and boy am I ready for a break!!! Just wanted to post a few photos of me and my hubby. As much of you already know, we are also full time wedding photographers. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year and wanted to document that with some really amazing, sexy photos. We had a good friend/co-worker TJ Getz (http://blog.getzcreative.com/) take these photos for us. He did a great job capturing the passion and love that Travis and I share :)

Enjoy…

23 Dec

Hope everyone… Hope you are all having a great Christmas holiday! Things have been crazy at the salon, so I haven’t had much time to blog lately. But that’s a good problem to have! Here are my recent photos from this week.

This is Beth. She came to me after letting a friend color her hair which ended up going bad. She had a lot of damage. She wanted the “Ombre” look but very subtle as well as adding Fusion extensions for length and to help her hair get healthy again. So that is what we did… She looks amazing!

This is Marcie, She had a disaster happen. She wanted to go blonder, so she went to her regular stylist and asked her to go blonder. The stylist put bleach all over her hair and left her under the drier for over 40 min. Her hair was practically mush. She then put a box color on top of that to help cover up the orange/white hair. When she came in for her consultation, I immediately started her on Moroccan Oil to get her hair healthy again! Then 2 weeks later, she came in for her extension application. I also colored her hair with a very gentle color to go darker and give her a richness. I love the results.

This is Jennifer. She wanted her hair to be longer and fuller. So that is exactly what we did :) Simple as that! in just 3 hours she had a new full head of hair…
